2027 IS-MPMI Congress

日期:2026-06-04 访问次数:36

The International Society for Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions Congress (2027 IS-MPMI Congress) will be held from 18 July to 22 July 2027 in Jeju, South Korea.

To build momentum toward the 2027 Congress and keep our global community connected, we are launching a brand-new webinar series: “Road to Jeju.” The series will run roughly every 6-8 weeks from June 2026 through May 2027 and will alternate between two formats:

•      Legends of IS-MPMI — in-depth talks from internationally recognized leaders whose work has shaped our field.

•      Rising Stars of IS-MPMI — a showcase for outstanding early-career researchers from around the world, selected by the IS-MPMI board from self-nominations.

All sessions will be held at noon UTC−3, hosted live on Zoom, free and open to the public. Sign up is required.

Legends of IS-MPMI — in-depth talks from internationally recognized leaders whose work has shaped our field.

•      Roger Innes (Indiana University Bloomington, USA) —June 17, 2026. Foundational contributions of the Innes laboratory include the biology of resistance genes and roles of extracellular vesicles and RNA in defense. Roger was former board director and president of IS-MPMI, and has made huge contributions to our society through the years.

•      Jonathan Jones (The Sainsbury Laboratory, UK) —September 30, 2026. The Jones laboratory has made pioneering contributions to our fundamental understanding of the plant immune system and has made crucial contributions to implement this knowledge to enhance resistance in crops.

•      Jane Parker (Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research, Germany) —January 2027 (exact date to be confirmed). The Parker laboratory has done ground-breaking work on the Enhanced Disease Susceptibility 1 (EDS1)-family proteins as a central signalling hub in plant immunity.

•      Xinnian Dong (Duke University, USA) —May 2027 (exact date to be confirmed). The Dong laboratory is renowned for their field-defining research on salicylic acid signalling in defense response and systemic acquired resistance.

Rising Stars of IS-MPMI — a showcase for outstanding early-career researchers from around the world, selected by the IS-MPMI board from self-nominations.

There will be three Rising Stars sessions: First one in July 29, 2026. The other two will be in November 2026, and March 2027 date TBD. Each session will have its own call for self-nominations. Self-nominations for the first session (July 29) are open now and will close on June 30th. To get a nomination form, email: contact@ismpmi.org

Calls for the November 2026 and March 2027 sessions will be announced separately in the coming months.

From all Rising Stars speakers over all three sessions, a panel of judges drawn from the IS-MPMI Board will select one Rising Star awardee in April 2027, who will:

•      Deliver a named plenary GetGenome Rising Star award talk at the 2027 IS-MPMI Congress in Jeju

•      Receive free registration for the Jeju Congress

•      Receive a travel stipend to cover the costs of attending the Congress in Jeju, courtesy of our sponsor GetGenome

Eligibility: Self-nomination for the Rising Stars series is open to Early Career IS-MPMI members (students and postdocs). Not yet a member?
