Professor Donald Grierson, a Fellow of the Royal Society, and Professor James Giovannoni, a member of the National Academy of Sciences, were invited to give a special report. In the next two days, 40 domestic well-known scientists also had given academic reports on three topics: plant flowering, senescence and postharvest biology, and carried out exchanges and discussions, which fully reflected and displayed the latest research achievements in China’s botany-related fields.
On the morning of July 6, 2019, the National Academic Annual Conference and the 12th Congress of Chinese Society for Plant Biology opened ceremoniously in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. More than 1,200 member representatives from provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and other representatives from branches of the society, scientific research institutes and enterprises attended the conference.
The 12th Congress of Chinese Society for Plant Biology considered and approved by voting the work report, financial report, articles of association and membership fee standard at the 11th Council of Chinese Society for Plant Biology, and elected the 12th Council and the first Board of Supervisors. In addition, in order to honor outstanding scientific and technological workers in the field of plant biology, encourage Chinese scientific and technological workers in plant biology to continuously innovate and contribute to the construction of an innovative country, the Outstanding Achievement Award of the Society, the Outstanding Young Scientist Award of the Society and the Wei Zhiming Young Innovation Award were presented at the conference. Cao Xiaofeng, an academician of Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Lin Hongxuan, an academician of the CAS Center for Excellence in Molecular Plant Science won the outstanding achievement award.
The Congress is a heavyweight conference held every five years by the Chinese Society for Plant Biology, which is not only a high-end and cutting-edge conference in the domestic field, but also a platform to demonstrate the latest achievements of plant biology researchers in China and provide full exchange and collision of academic ideas. It was themed by plant physiology and green development. In the next two days, it will carry out high-level academic exchanges and display the latest achievements, focusing on plant hormones and developmental biology, plant genomics and new molecular breeding technology, plant biological interaction, plant abiotic stress, plant nutrition and environment, plant biotechnology, plant metabolic biology and nutritional health, plant cell and signaling, photosynthesis and Photobiology, etc. More than 100 well-known experts and scholars in the field of plant biology at home and abroad, including many academicians, will exchange in-depth views and discuss with more than 1,000 participants.
